For many years, my favorite vocalist has been Larnelle Harris.  During their youth, my daughters...Nicole and Natalie...sometimes asked if I had any other tapes or cds in my car, since I usually played his music.  Sunday evening I attended a Larnelle Harris concert at First Assembly of God, Fort Myers, FL.  I was able to speak to him and shake his hand following the concert.  In retrospect, I have attended six other of his concerts.  The first one was at Lakeview Wesleyan Church, Marion, IN.  I also heard him at a Homecoming Concert at Indiana Wesleyan University.  I heard him in Findlay, OH, and Fort Wayne Bible College, Fort Wayne, IN, and two Homecoming Concerts at Olivet Nazarene University, Bourbonnais, IL.  His music concerts are always a blessing and filled with the Holy Spirit.

Without a lot demanding my attention, I am surprised how quickly the day passes. Wednesday, the temperature was very warm, so I spent most of the day outside in the sun...sometimes reading, sleeping, or walking.  Thursday, January 6th, rain was predicted.  I called some friends and went to visit with them.  Friday, was sunny but windy and cool following the rain.  I walked along the waters edge enjoying the crashing waves and soft sand as I gathered some shells.  I am amazed how entertaining the birds in the water can be as they defend a territory where they are searching for food.  People watching is also fun.

MONDAY---JANUARY 3, 2011

MONDAY & TUESDAY---JANUARY 3 & 4, 2011

During these two days, I finished getting settled with continued rest.  I have enjoyed the bird sanctuary between my condo and the beach.  I have shopped at Beall's (a great store here in FL) and shopped at Miromar Outlet Mall.  One of my favorite eating places for fish and chips is now closed in Times Square.

SUNDAY---JANUARY 2, 2011

SUNDAY---JANUARY 2, 2011

On Sunday, I attended services at Beach Baptist Church pastored by Shawn Critser.  Many friends and acquaintances welcomed my return.  Pastor Shawn and his wife Sherri have recently adopted a Haitian baby named Shae Lucy Blue Critser.  They are parents of four other children, two boys and two girls.

SATURDAY---JANUARY 1, 2011

Saturday---January 1, 2011

Saturday, I felt enough better to proceed on to my condo rental at Fort Myers Beach, FL.  I discovered that I still was not completely recovered.  I was cautious in my driving and physical activities.  Moving my things to my first floor condo was exhausting.

Thursday---December 30, 2010

THURSDAY---DECEMBER 30, 2010

I left the Phillips' Bed and Breakfast and drove a few hundred more miles to the home of my sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Sharon and Dave Wiese, in Largo, FL.  I stayed with them through New Year's Eve.  However, we did no partying New Year's Eve.  I experienced a reaction to the three injections I had received on Monday in preparation for my trip to Africa.  Most of the day I spent sleeping or chilling or having great intestinal distress.

Wednesday---December 29, 2010

Wednesday -- December 29, 2011

Today, I drove over six hundred miles to the home of my friends Gregg and Colleen Phillips in Marietta, GA.  Their home is about mid-way between Marion, IN, and Fort Myers Beach, FL.  They graciously permit me to eat with them, rest during the night, and leave before they arise the following morning.  We jokingly call their home....The Phillips' Bed and Breakfast.
